Board

LFEE’s Board is comprised of committed individuals who contribute their time, talent, and financial support to LFEE’s mission.

Officers

Jennifer Shivery, President – Jen is the Senior Manager of Menu and Operations for Isaac’s Restaurant and Deli. She is strong advocate for Lancaster City stating, “I live in the city, shop in the city, and love the city.” She has a daughter who is in the 7th grade at Reynold’s Middle School in the School District of Lancaster.

Kathy Wasong, Vice-President – Kathy is a Lancaster Township Supervisor and a member of the Lancaster County Planning Commission. She is vice chair of the Lancaster Inter-Municipal Committee, on the Community Development Block Grant funding steering committee, and has been involved with various other community organizations. Her children attended the School District of Lancaster. Her son John graduated from J.P. McCaskey High School in 2000.

The Rev. Kurt Strause, Treasurer – Kurt is a graduate from Warwick High School in Lititz and Penn State University. He also graduated from the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Gettysburg and was ordained in 1982. Since 1987 he has served as the pastor of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Lancaster. His wife Lois is a 7th grade Communication Arts teacher at Wheatland Middle School. They are the parents of two grown children, Renata and Dietrich, graduates of McCaskey High School.

Ruth Ecklin, Secretary – Ruth graduated from University of Iowa with a B.B.A in marketing. She worked for Armstrong from 1984 to 1988 in Floor Division Sales and Training and currently owns two downtown Lancaster businesses, Pappagallo and Details. She is a Rocky Springs Carousel Association Board Member and the mother of four School District of Lancaster students.

William Brown Jr., – Bill is a 1975 graduate of McCaskey High School and is President of the McCaskey Alumni Board. He holds a BA from Lebanon Valley College, MBA from Philadelphia University, and attended Management Development Program at Harvard University. He has been Vice President of Enrollment at Lebanon Valley College since 2007. Bill, and his wife Donna, live in Landisville.

Candace Roper – School District of Lancaster Board representative

Frank Gray – Frank taught writing and literature at J. P. McCaskey for 33 years and, after that, served as Coordinator for Secondary Language Arts for two years. Presently, he is an evaluator and consultant for the International Baccalaureate North America program and assists the District in supporting new teachers with instructional strategies.

Richard Greiner – Dick is a partner in Nikolaus & Hohenadel, LLP, a Lancaster law firm. One of Dick’s special interest is public education having been an elected member of the Manheim Township School Board and President of the Manheim Township Educational Foundation. He has served on the advisory board of the Children & Youth Social Service Agency and as President of the Parish Resource Center. Dick and his wife, Jill, live in Manheim Township.

Adam Hawk – Adam grew up in Gettysburg, PA graduating from Littlestown HS. He pursued his bachelor’s in Health Sciences and Masters in Physical Therapy from University of Scranton. He worked as a travelling therapist before settling down as Director of Rehabilitation at Corry Memorial Hospital. After moving to Lancaster in 2006 and beginning a position at Lancaster General, Adam completed his MBA at Millersville University. Currently, Adam works for WellSpan Health in York County and lives in Manheim Township with his wonderful wife, Shannon, beautiful daughter, Reagan, and 2 boxers – Luna and Kale. Adam is a member of Rotary and President of the Central PA Healthcare Executive Forum.

Barry Kornhauser – Barry, Associate Director of the Fulton Theatre, is an award-winning playwright for young audiences, most recently honored with the Charlotte B. Chorpenning Cup, America’s preeminent TYA playwriting award, honoring “a nationally known writer of outstanding plays for children in recognition of a body of distinguished work.” His plays have been performed at major theatres across the country and overseas. He is also an arts educator who was the first recipient of Pennsylvania’s Educational Theatre Award for “outstanding service by an individual for the advancement of theatre education in the Commonwealth,” and whose work with the Fulton’s Youtheatre has been honored at the White House by the President’s Committee on the Arts and Humanities as one of the top arts-education programs in the nation. Barry is currently working on the PA Department of Education’s Standards-Aligned System curriculum committee. He is the proud father of three, all of whom went through the SDOL and on to F&M where his wife works in the college’s main library.

Dr. Clark McSparren – Clark returned to his birthplace of Lancaster in 1943 and entered the School District of Lancaster(SDoL) graduating from JP McCaskey High School in 1951. After Franklin & Marshall College, Penn Med School, internship and pediatric residency in Philadelphia, and two years in the US Navy as a pediatrician, he and his wife Ethelmae and their three daughters, Lisa, Susan, and Jennifer returned to Lancaster where he practiced pediatrics with Lancaster Pediatrics Associate for 44 years. “Retirement” now includes school physician at two SDoL elementary schools, active involvement with six grandchildren, passive pursuit of the arts (Lancaster Symphony and Philadelphia Orchestra, Fulton Theatre, EPAC, Lancaster Museum of Art and Philadelphia Museum of Art), science and archeology reading, and continued learning/travel with Ethelmae.

Marcy Radcliffe – Marcy is the parent of a District student. She is Event Coordinator for Lime Spring Farm, and has been an active volunteer with the New School of Lancaster, the Hands On House, Lancaster Symphony, Boys and Girls Club, and other local organizations.

Pedro Rivera – Superintendent, School District of Lancaster

Angel Torres – Angel is an attorney with Nikolaus & Hohenadel, LLP in Lancaster.

Stevens VanDuzer – Steve is a graduate of Cornell University and is Senior VP of Commercial Real Estate Lending at Susquehanna Bank. He served as the past chairman of the board of the Susquehanna Association for the Blind and Vision Impaired which offers rehabilitation services, education and employment to blind or visually impaired persons. He is a board member of the Conestoga County Club and a member of Hamilton Park United Church of Christ. Married to Karen Ziegler, he is the parent of two children, two step-children and three grandchildren.
